General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Overall Commander of Uganda's Defense Forces, has issued a final and uncompromising warning to all foreign mercenaries operating in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In his statement, General Muhoozi declared that beginning January 2, 2025, any mercenaries found in Uganda's area of operations will be targeted without hesitation.

“I’m going to give only ONE WARNING to ALL white mercenaries operating in eastern DRC. From 2nd January 2025, we will attack all mercenaries in our area of operations,” the General asserted.

The statement comes at a critical time when security challenges persist in eastern DRC, fueled by armed groups, militias, and foreign actors. Reports indicate that some private military contractors, mainly from Europe, have been offering logistical, advisory, and combat support to various factions, complicating the already volatile situation.

General Muhoozi's remarks reinforce Uganda's resolve to maintain stability in the region and safeguard its national interests against what it perceives as undue foreign interference. His warning sends a strong message to international actors operating in the conflict zone, signaling that Uganda will not tolerate mercenary activities that jeopardize regional peace and security.

As the January 2025 deadline approaches, stakeholders will closely monitor how this bold statement reshapes operations and alliances in eastern DRC.

Known for his controversial tweets and unconventional public statements, General Muhoozi has become a polarizing figure. To some, his actions seem impulsive and erratic, while to others, they represent a calculated strategy—what we might call the "principle of strategic confusion." The Art of Underestimation Military theorists, such as Sun Tzu in The Art of War, emphasize the power of deception. By appearing disorganized, reckless, or weak, a leader can lure adversaries into complacency, giving themselves a strategic edge.
