Eng. Sanya Noris John, born on December 28, 1995, is a Ugandan civil engineer, servant-leader, and aspiring Member of Parliament for Samia-Bugwe North constituency (2026-2031). He was born in Buyende village, Buwembe Parish, Buyanga Sub-county, Busia District, to Md. Nabwire Jenipher and Mr. Odongo James Muhwana, the son of the late Mayende John Osonga.


Educational Background and Early Life


Sanya's educational journey began at Buwembe Primary School and Buwembe Senior Secondary School, both close to his home. In 2011, he transferred to Crane High School in Kampala to complete his secondary education, He joined Uganda Christian University in Mukono in 2015, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.


Professional Career


Since completing his studies, Sanya has gained professional experience in civil engineering, working with Otter Enterprises, Hajji Kalungi Properties Ltd, and Achilleo Builders and Construction Company Ltd from 2016 to 2023. He is currently a self-employed engineer, committed to enhancing infrastructure and development in his community.


Leadership and Service


Throughout his life, Sanya has demonstrated a passion for leadership and community service. He serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Uganda Christian University Engineering Alumni Association and is the Godfather of the Basamia-Bagwe Students' Association at UCU Mukono. His leadership journey began in primary school, where he held roles from class monitor to sanitation officer, and continued through high school, where he was a class representative, counselor, and president of the Science Club.


At university, Sanya held key roles, including President of the Basamia-Bagwe Students' Association and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the Basamia-Bagwe Students' Association Joint Council, a Busia District-registered CBO. He organized outreach programs, clean-up campaigns, blood donation drives, and cultural events, benefiting the Samia-Bugwe community.


Community Impact and Vision


Sanya’s deep connection with his community is evident in his contributions to local education, where he provided financial support to students at Majeri Nursery and Primary School. He also served as a teaching assistant in mathematics and physics for about four years. Despite his rural upbringing, Sanya has worked in agriculture to support his family and has traveled across Uganda to study best practices in agriculture, health, and education.


As a civil engineer, Sanya brings extensive knowledge in urban planning and infrastructure development. He is committed to contributing sustainable solutions to his community's challenges, particularly in empowering youth, supporting the elderly, and fostering regional growth.
