Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Bids Farewell to X, Cites Focus on UPDF Mission

Kampala – Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and a key figure in Uganda’s military and political spheres, has announced his departure from the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In a heartfelt message to his followers, Muhoozi revealed that his decision was guided by his faith and a divine calling to focus entirely on his role in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

“It has been a great whirlwind and rousing journey together on these streets for the last 10 years since 2014. However, the time has now come, under the instructions and blessings of my Lord Jesus Christ, to leave and concentrate on His army, the UPDF,” Muhoozi wrote.

Reflecting on a decade of engagement on X, Muhoozi thanked his followers for their support and promised a potential reconnection in the future. “At an appropriate time in the future, when it becomes important, and after fulfilling the Almighty God's immediate assignment to restore everlasting peace and security to all His people in our region, we shall always re-converge,” he added.

He also urged continued support for Uganda, Africa, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he praised as “the greatest General of the Resistance.”

Muhoozi’s presence on X has been influential, often sparking discussions on national and regional issues. His departure marks a significant shift in his public engagement, with his focus now firmly on his military responsibilities.

While he steps away from the platform, his message leaves room for a possible return, ensuring his followers that his commitment to peace and progress remains unwavering.

Beyond Regime Change: Why Africa Needs a Mindset Revolution

OPINION: Africa Must Move Beyond Regime Change Politics By Ouma Patrick, Aspiring Member of Parliament – Samia Bugwe Central Crown Media East Africa For decades, African politics has been trapped in a single, loud narrative: regime change. Yet once some of them enter the same systems they criticized — appointed to high offices, given access to state resources, or absorbed into government structures — they often become part of the elite they once fought. Their lives change; the lives of ordinary citizens do not. This political cycle has produced a troubling dependency mindset. Citizens have been conditioned to wait fo...

The Philosophy of Power: Rethinking Uganda’s 2026 Elections

By Ouma Patrick Aspiring Member of Parliament, Samia Bugwe Central For Crown Media East Africa As Uganda approaches the 2026 general elections, the nation once again stands at a crossroads—one familiar yet never identical to those before it. Politics in our land has never been a mere contest of ballots; it has always been a test of consciousness, a reflection of who we are, what we value, and what future we dare to imagine. To understand 2026, we must rise beyond the noise of rallies and slogans and interrogate the deeper forces shaping our democracy. 1. The Illusion of Choice vs. the Reality of Power Elections often present themselves as moments of choice. Yet in countries where state machinery heavily influences the electoral landscape, the ballot becomes less of a decision and more of a ritual. Uganda’s political terrain has long been defined by a central paradox: citizens are told they have power, yet the architecture of power often operates beyond their reach. Philosophers r...
